​Graeme Todd Jnr and Scott Mackintosh won 23-16 against Craig and Dean Mackintosh in the final of the Nominated Pairs.

SUNDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER

Invitation Pairs

Tam Chapman and Jamie Gunn won the Invitation Pairs sponsored by McKenzie & Millar with a 5 shot victory against Colette Thomson and Rosemary Mackintosh in an entertaining final.  The beaten semi finalists were Stuart McKean and Scott Mackintosh, and Helen Borthwick and Pat Turner.

Gillian Mackintosh defeated Pat Turner 21-15 to win the Ladies 3 Bowl Singles.

Dot Gilhooley and Gillian Mackintosh defeated Irene Breslin and Margaret Murray 20-4 in the final of the Ladies Pairs.

Scott Mackintosh won the 2 Bowl Singles with a 21-14 victory against Jim McCaskell.

Gillian and Scott Mackintosh won the Mixed Pairs for the 3rd year in a row with a 16-11 win against Ann and Daniel McCaskell.

​Alison McDougall, Jamie Gunn and Craig Duffus won the Belhaven Open Mixed Triples beating Diane Bell,  Ronnie Bell and Davy Sinclair by 2 shots in the final.

The Ladies lost 3-2 (37-29) to Goldenacre in the semi final of the Edinburgh Cup.  Nicola Barclay won 19-13 and Gillian Mackintosh lost 24-10.

WEDNESDAY 9TH AUGUST

​1st XVI V Liberton (Home)

​The 1st XVI needed to win to avoid relegation to the 5th division and they did so in style with a 9-0 win against Liberton to consign them to the 5th division.  Graeme Todd Snr raced into a 10-1 lead before winning 24-5 against Les Mitchell.  Graeme Todd Jnr scored a 6 at the first end before building a 19-2 lead then won only 1 of the last 7 ends in a 20-11 victory against Andrew Main.  David Kyle recovered from 5-2 down to lead 14-5 before winning 18-10 against Charlie Duncan.  Scott Mackintosh trailed for the first 13 ends before a 4 end burst of 2, 1, 3, 2 gave him a 16-11 win against Gordon Plenderleith.

2nd XVI V Blackhall (Away)

​The 2nd XVI made it 6 wins in a row to finish top of the bottom half with a 7-2 win away to Blackhall.

3rd Team V Summerside (Away)

​The 3rd team won 5-0 away to Summerside to finish in 3rd place

​Denis Breslin and Caroline Todd won the Chambers Trophy defeating Diane Bell and Fred Milne in the final.

MONDAY 7TH AUGUST

​Craig Mackintosh lost 21-17 to Willowbrae's David Torrance at Leith in the 1st round of the Tait Trophy.

EBL Ladies V Parkside (Away)

​The Ladies won 3-2 away to Parkside but this wasn't enough to stop Bainfield winning the league with a game to spare.

​Graeme Todd Jnr defeated Paul Veitch from Parkside 21-20 in the quarter final at Tanfield.

WEDNESDAY 2ND AUGUST

​1st XVI V Gorgie Mills (Away)

The 1st XVI lost 7-2 at away to Gorgie Mills.  Graeme Todd Snr led from start to finish with a convincing 21-6 win against Kevin Jamieson.  Graeme Todd Jnr looked to be heading for victory at 12-7 up after 12 ends but lost the last 5 ends to lose 16-12 to Dean Thomson.  David Kyle trailed 11-6 after 8 ends then lost 5 ends on the trot to fall 21-6 behind.  David won the next 3 ends before losing a single at the last end to lose 22-10 to Nicky Brown.  Scott Mackintosh was still in the game at 11-9 down after 13 but lost 3, 3, 2, 3 to finish 22-9 down against Brian Dingle.

2nd XVI V Liberton (Home)

The 2nd XVI won 7-2 at home to Liberton.

3rd Team V Whitehouse & Grange (Home)

The 3rd team won 4-1 at home to Whitehouse & Grange.

TUESDAY 1ST AUGUST

Gents Championship Final

​At just 16 years of age Craig Mackintosh became the youngest winner of the club championship with a 21-12 win against his brother Dean.  Craig opened up a 12-7 lead but Dean closed the gap to 12-11 with a full house 4 within 8 inches.  Craig responded well and pulled away to 18-12 then finished 2, 1 to claim his first championship at just 16 years of age.  Craig plays David Torrance from Willowbrae at Leith in the Tait Trophy on Monday 7th August @ 6.30pm.

East of Scotland Semi Finals
Rosemary Mackintosh lost 21-11 against Merchiston's Shona Johnstone at Colinton.
Eileen Mitchell and Ann McCaskell lost in the pairs at Colinton.

MONDAY 31ST JULY

EWBA Top Ten

​The Ladies won the EWBA Top Ten for the 2nd year running winning by 2 shots after finishing level on 4 points each.

SUNDAY 30TH JULY

SYBA Singles @ Ayr

​Craig Mackintosh had qualified in the singles for the 4th year in a row but had yet to make it out of the group stages, could his final year be any different?

​Craig started with an 11-8 win then followed it up with a 19-7 victory.  In his 3rd game he recovered from 7-3 down to win 16-7 then beat Carrick Knowe 15-5.  Craig was now playing with a confidence and he won his final group game 21-6 to qualify for the semi finals.  He won his semi final against West Lothian 13-9 and faced Robbie Hillis from Central West in the final.  Craig quickly opened up a 7-1 lead then scored back to back 4s to move 15-1 ahead,  Robbie closed to 15-5 but Craig had he last word as he drew a back toucher to claim a single and a 16-5 win.

Well done Craig - Scottish U17 Singles Champion.

​This rounded off a great week for the club and the Mackintosh family at Ayr as he added to the silver medal won by Dean in the U25 singles and the bronze medal won by Gillian and Scott in the Mixed Pairs..

SATURDAY 29TH JULY

National Finals @ Ayr

​Dean Mackintosh won 21-15 against Alastair Nimmo from Cupar in the semi final of the U25 singles.

​In the final Dean played Joe Mower from Haddington.  Dean settled well and led 3-0 then from 7-6 up he scored 1, 1, 2 to lead 11-6.  Dean was dominating play in one direction as he picked up a couple of 3s then a single to lead 18-10 and move In sight of the winning line.  This was a key point in the game as Joe changed his hand and picked up 1, 2 before Dean scored a single to lead 19-13.  Joe found another gear and started to nail the white with his first bowl which yielded a run of 3, 1, 1, 2, 1 to claim a 21-19 victory in 25 ends.

​A great effort from Dean and a tremendous achievement to reach the final but unfortunately he just couldn't find the big bowl required to seal victory.

WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY

National Finals @ Ayr

​In the Ladies Pairs Diane Bell and Nicola Barclay lost to 22-9 to Audrey McIntyre and Alyson Cameron from Calderbank in horrendous conditions.


In the semi final of the Mixed Pairs ​Gillian and Scott only managed to play 1 end before rain stopped play for 2 hours.  When play resumed they were unable to master the rink and suffered a 21-6 defeat to last years runners up Carla and Colin Banks from Inverurie.

TUESDAY 25TH JULY
National Finals @ Ayr
​Dean Mackintosh defeated Garry Mitchell from Gilmerton 21-14 in the last 16.

Dean raced into a 20-4 lead before winning 21-13 against Liam Nicholson from Gala Waverley in the quarter final.

Dean plays Alastair Nimmo from Cupar in the semi final on Saturday 29th July @ 9.30am.


​Gillian and Scott Mackintosh defeated Liz Brown and Colin Sadler from Linwood 21-8 in the last 16.

​In the quarter final Gillian and Scott won 12-11 with the last bowl at an extra end as Scott drew the shot out on the strings to beat Sandra Steven and Richard Mark from Uphall Station.

MONDAY 24TH JULY

National Finals @ Ayr

​Dean Mackintosh defeated Andrew Wilson from Burnside 21-15.


​Gillian and Scott Mackintosh defeated Carol and Alistair McMillan from Port William 17-11.

FRIDAY 21ST JULY

​Ladies Championship Final

​Margaret Murray won the championship for the first time with a commanding 21-7 victory against Gillian Mackintosh.  Margaret settled from the very first bowl and raced into a 10-4 lead.  Gillian pulled the mat up the green to try and find her line and weight but no matter what she did Margaret had the answer.  Margaret stretched her lead to 16-7 then scored 4 shots to move onto 20.  Ironically Gillian then played her best end of the game with 4 bowls within a foot but she still lost the shot on an umpires measure and Margaret deservedly clamed her first championship title with a 21-7 victory.

Forth League V Maitland (Away)

​The Ladies won the Forth League with a 5-2 victory against Maitland.  Rosemary Mackintosh won 15-12, Diane Bell won 12-4 and Ann

​Graeme Todd Jnr must have played better than he did the previous night as he won 21-20 against Stevie Kirk from Whitehouse & Grange.

​Daniel McCaskell, Ronnie Bell and Graeme Todd Snr lost 11-8 to Bainfield.

WEDNESDAY 19TH JULY

SYBA International V Ireland U18

Craig Mackintosh was part of the Scotland U17 team that defeated Ireland U18 18-12 at Inchinnan Bowling Club in Paisley.  Craig lost 14-8 in the pairs but then won 13-10 in the triples and scored a 3 at the last end in the fours to win by a shot.

​1st XVI V Bainfield (Home)

​The 1st XVI lost 9-0 at home to Bainfield and now sit just 2 points above a relegation place with 2 games remaining.  Graeme Todd Snr looked down and out at 16-7 down with 3 ends remaining but a 3 and a 5 moved him within 1 shot playing the last end before losing a single in a 17-15 defeat against Craig Paterson.  Scott Mackintosh led 8-5 but lost 5, 2, 3 to fall 15-8 behind before losing 20-14 against Paul Millar.  David Kyle led 7-0 and lay 7 shots but Steven Pilley hit the head and picked up 4 shots.  David was 10-11 down after 11 ends but won only 1 more end in a 21-11 defeat.  Graeme Todd Jnr trailed 8-0 then closed the gap slightly to 10-5 down but never scored again in an 18-5 loss to Brian Stoddart.

2nd XVI V Colinton (Away)

​The 2nd XVI won 7-2 away to Colinton.  Alan Black won the last 4 ends to win 18-12 against J. Ferguson.  Ray Forrest led 17-5 and only just held on to win 20-17 against E. Dando.  Davy Ford finished 3, 1 to win 16-15 against Ian McCallum.  John Witherspoon lost 17-15 against Peter Johnston.

3rd Team V Slateford (Away)

The 3rd team lost 3-2 away to Slateford.

​Harry Pincott defeated Billy Black to win the Charity Cup singles.  The beaten semi finalists were Diane and Ronnie Bell.

​2nd XVI V Merchiston (Home)

​The 2nd XVI won 7-2 at home against Merchiston.  Davy Ford won 21-10 against Angus Gunn.  Ray Forrest finished strongly winning the last 4 ends in an 18-9 win against Willie Brown.  Alan Black won 15-12 against Alex Gunn and Bill Whyte lost 20-10 against Dougie Ross.

​3rd Team V Seafield (Home)

​The 3rd team won 5-0 at home to Seafield.  John Watters won 27-5.25 against L. Collie and Fred Milne finished 5, 1 to win 17-15 against W, Mulcahy.

WEDNESDAY 5TH JULY

​1st XVI V Merchiston (Home)

​The 1st XVI won 5-4 at home to Merchiston.  David Kyle trailed 9-0 but a 7 at the 6th end helped him move 13-9 ahead before he romped to a 25-12 win against Ian Burns.  Graeme Todd Jnr started 4, 6 before winning 20-15 against Frank Gordon.  Graeme Todd Snr trailed 9-2 but recovered to level at 11-11 before losing 17-15 to Colin Cochrane.  Gordon Gray led 12-8 with 4 ends to play but lost the last 4 ends in a 17-12 loss to Ian Somerville.

2nd XVI V Merchiston (Away)

​The 2nd XVI won 6-3 away to Merchiston.  Alan Black had a comfortable 24-7 win against Willie Brown.  Ray Forrest built up an 18-6 lead before winning 24-15 against Angus Gunn.  Bill Whyte lost a single at the last end to peel 17-17 against R. McGrouther.  Davy Ford was 8-6 ahead but slumped to a 20-11 loss against Alex Gunn.

3rd Team V Willowbrae (Away)

​The 3rd team lost 3-2 away to Willowbrae.

TUESDAY 4TH JULY

East of Scotland District Finals

​Rosemary Mackintosh won 21-9 against Moira Rogers from Craigentinny in the district singles final.

Eileen Mitchell and Ann McCaskell won the district pairs.

Top Ten V Tanfield (Away)

The men lost 8-0 away to Tanfield in the Top Ten.

SUNDAY 2ND JULY

E&LBA Top 5 Singles

LRF lost 3-2 at home to Craigentinny in the Top 5.Gordon Bold got the frist point for the visitors with a 21-7 win against Graeme Todd Snr.  David Kyle levelled things at 1-1 with a 21-9 win against Kevin McFarlane.  Craig McCall put Craigentinny 2-1 in front with a 21-13 win against Craig Mackintosh.  Scott Mackintosh made it 2-2 when he beat Ian Paterson 21-17.  Andy Caldwell clinched victory with a 21-14 win against Graeme Todd Jnr.

​E&LBA Mixed Fours

Sheila McIntosh, Harry Pincott, Rosemary Mackintosh and Daniel McCaskell lost 20-8 to Sighthill in the quarter finals at Craigentinny.

SATURDAY 1ST JULY

​Top Six Singles Final

​Pat Turner won the Top Six Singles final with a 21-9 victory against Trinity at Brunstane.

Edinburgh Plate V Dean (Away)

The men lost 7-0 away to Dean in the Edinburgh Plate.  Graeme Todd Snr lost 17-16 to Reece Nairn, Scott Mackintosh lost 21-13 to John Underwood and Graeme Todd Jnr lost 18-8 to George McNab.

WEDNESDAY 28TH JUNE

1st XVI V Ardmillan (Home)

​The 1st XVI made it 2 wins in the space of 2 days with a 7-2 home win against Ardmillan to move out of the relegation places.  Scott Mackintosh led 14-2 then from14-7 coasted to a 22-11 victory against Alex Lockhart.  Graeme Todd Snr led 11-5 but lost 4 ends in a row to lead 11-10 before winning 16-12 against John Allan.  Dean Mackintosh was 11-2 in front before losing 5 of the next 7 ends to trail 15-13 however he found another gear to finish 3, 1, 2 to win 19-15 against Mike Nolan.  Graeme Todd Jnr looked to be in control at 13-7 up but lost 4, 2, 2, 2, 1 to fall 18-13 behind with an end to play.  Graeme had a chance with his final delivery to turn a bowl for a 5 but he was agonisingly inches short from doing so and had to settle for a 3 and an 18-16 defeat to Malcolm Clerk.

​2nd XVI V  (Away)

​The 2nd XVI won 5-4 away to league leaders Dudley.  Bill Whyte won 19-11against Alistair Wilkie and John Witherspoon scored a 3 at the last end t win 16-14 against D. Lowdrey.  Alan Black lost a 2 at the last end to lose 17-15 against Les Miller.  Davy Ford lost 15-9 to G. Brown.

3rd Team V Gorgie Mills (Home)

​The 3rd team won 5-0 at home to league leaders Gorgie Mills.  Fred Milne finished 1, 2, 3 to win 15-8 against Richard Dick and John Watters won 9 ends on the bounce to move from 5-3 down to 15-5 in front before winning 15-11.

MONDAY 26TH JUNE

​1st XVI V Dean (Away)

​The 1st XVI got their first win in 6 games with a 7-2 victory away to Dean.  Daniel McCaskell resumed at 9-6 up but lost a single before scoring 3, (1), 1, 3 on his way to a 16-9 win against Dave McCulloch.  Scott Mackintosh resumed at 8-7 up but fell 10-9 behind before scoring 4 shots at the 14th end to move 13-10 in front.  The loss of 2 singles saw Scott only 1 in front playing the last but he scored a single to win 14-12 against Bob Clayton.  Graeme Todd Jnr resumed at 9-7 but fell 15-8 down after 14 ends but a storming 3, 1, 4 finish saw him score a 16-15 win against Kevin McNab.  Graeme Todd Snr resumed at 10-9 down but a 3 at the 13th end moved him 12-10 in front.  He lost a single at the next but played a great takeout to lie 4 shots at the next but John Underwood drew the shot with his last bowl to level at 12-12 then picked up a 1 and a 2 to beat Graeme 15-12.

Ladies EBL V Willowbrae (Away)

​The Ladies won 3-2 away to Willowbrae.

E&LBA U25s

Dean and Craig Mackintosh were part of the Edinburgh & Leith Under 25 team that won the Scottish County U25 League at Sighthill.

E&LBA Mixed Fours

Sheila McIntosh, Harry Pincott, Rosemary Mackintosh and Daniel McCaskell won 20-11 with an end to spare against Gorgie Mills.

FRIDAY 23RD JUNE

Edinburgh Plate V Goldenacre (Home)

​The men won 5-2 at home to Goldenacre in the 1st round of the Edinburgh Plate.  Graeme Todd Snr raced into an 11-2 lead against Ronnie Munro before winning 19-6.  Scott Mackintosh led 9-3 then 13-8 then answered pressure at 13-12 to finish 1, 2 to win 16-12 against Ronnie Elder.  Daniel McCaskell was peels at 6-6 but slipped 18-9 down before a 6 gave him hope at 18-15 down after 14 ends.  Malky Thomson answered this threat with three 2s to defeat Daniel 24-15. LRF will play away to Dean in the next round on Friday 30th June @ 6.45pm.

​Forth League V Wardie (Away)

​The Ladies won 5-2 away to Wardie.  Rosemary Mackintosh won 23-9, Ann McCaskell won 18-2 and Diane Bell lost 18-10.

WEDNESDAY 21ST JUNE

​1st XVI V Dean (Away)

​The 1st XVI game against Dean was rained off with LRF leading 5-4 and will be completed on Monday 26th June.

​2nd XVI V Colinton (Home)

​The 2nd XVI lost 7-2 at home to Colinton where they only managed 11 ends due to the rain.  John Witherspoon led from start to finish in a 14-6 win against E. Dando.  Bill Whyte won the first 3 ends then only won 1 more end as he lost 12-4 to Donald MacLeod.  Davy Ford won only 3 ends in a 15-6 defeat against W. Ferguson.  Alan Black crashed to a 25-2 defeat against P. Johnson in just 11 ends.

​3rd Team V Brunstane (Home)

​The 3rd Team won 3-2 at home to Brunstane.  John Watters started 5, 4 to lead 9-0 then at 11- 8 up picked up 3 singles before winning 14-10 in 11 ends against Bruce Johnson.  Freddy Milne recovered from 7-0 down to peel at 9-9 before losing 2 singles in an 11-9 defeat to Chris Binnie.

​The men defeated Leith 3-2 at home. 16 year old Craig Mackintosh led the way with a 21-2 mauling of David Ramsay in just 9 ends.  Next off was Scott Mackintosh who took a while to get going but from 10-9 he powered home to win 21-9 against Ian Ramsay to put LRF 2-0 ahead.  Dean Mackintosh led 7-4 then fell 15-8 behind against Robert Wood.  Dean closed to 15-13 but lost the next 4 ends to lose 21-13 to make it 2-1 to LRF.  David Kyle stood peels at 13-13 but lost 3, 4 to go 20-13 down.  He replied with a couple of singles but lost a single at the next to lose 21-13 to Craig Ramsay to make it 2-2.  Graeme Todd Jnr had raced into a 12-4 lead then at 20-11 up he played a great last bowl on the swinging hand on rink 2 to clinch victory with a 21-11 win against Ali Mackay.  We will play Craigentinny in the next round at LRF.

Sheila McIntosh, Harry Pincott, Rosemary Mackintosh and Daniel McCaskell won 26-6 with 2 ends to spare against Leith at Summerside.

FRIDAY 16TH JUNE

​Forth League V Brunstane (Home)

The Ladies won 6-1 at home to Brunstane.  Diane Bell won 23-4, Ann McCaskell won 11-10 and Margaret Murray peeled 11-11.

Edinburgh Plate V Portobello (Away)

​The men turned up at Portobello to play them in the Edinburgh Plate however Portobello were unaware that they were meant to playing so we got a bye.  We will play at home in the next round against Goldenacre on Friday 23rd June.

WEDNESDAY 14TH JUNE

1st XVI V Liberton (Away)

​The 1st XVI missed an opportunity to move above Liberton as they lost 7-2 away from home and are now 9 points adrift of safety.  Graeme Todd Snr was the only winner with a 16-14 victoy against Andrew Main. Graeme was 10-7 up then 13-10 down before winning 3 of the last 4 ends to win 16-14.  Graeme Todd Jnr looked on course for victory when he picked up a 5 to move 17-9 up after 13 ends but collapsed on the run in losing 4, 1, 5, 4 to lose 23-17 to Dave Bruce.  Scott Mackintosh was well in the game at 7-9 but lost the next 6 ends before scoring a 5 at he last in a 20-12 loss to Les Mitchell.  David Kyle trailed 18-6 but scored 2, 5 to give him some hope at 18-13 down before losing the last 6 ends in a 27-13 defeat against Mick Todd.

​2nd XVI V Postal (Home)

The 2nd XVI lost 5-4 at home to Postal.  Davy Ford won 20-13 against John Forsyth and Bill Whyte won 17-11 against George Taylor.  Alan Black was peels playing the last but lost a 1 to lose 14-13 to Martin McVey.  John Witherspoon had a night to forget as he lost 25-8 against Stan Mitchell.

3rd Team V Summerside (Home)

​The 3rd Team won 3-2 at home to Summerside.  Fred Milne won 26-5 against Stevie Scott and John Watters lost 16-12 to Graham Armie.

TUESDAY 13TH JUNE

Bowls Scotland U25 Singles

​Dean Mackintosh won the district U25 singles final with a 21-14 win against Tanfield's Liam McKay.  Liam opened with a 2 but Dean won the next 6 ends to lead 8-2.  Two 4s in the space of 4 ends moved Liam 11-9 in front but a last bowl trail yielded 2 shots for Dean to level at 11-11.  Liam edged 14-12 ahead but Dean replied with 1, 2, 1, 3, 2 for a well deserved 21-14 victory and a place in the national finals at Ayr on Monday 24th July.

MONDAY 12TH JUNE

​The ladies won by 2 shots in the Top Ten against Blackhall after the Singles and Fours won.

Ladies EBL V Parkside (Home)

The Ladies won 5-0 at home to Parkside.  Nicola Barclay won by 3 shots and Gillian Mackintosh won by 2 shots.

SUNDAY 11TH JUNE

Bowls Scotland Pairs

​Diane Bell and Nicola Barclay won the district pairs with a 19-11 win against clubmates Pat Turner and Ann McCaskell.  Ann led 9-5 and 11-8 before Nicola went 12-11 ahead then pulled away to win 19-11.  Diane and Nicola will play in the national finals at Ayr in late July, dates are still to be advised.

Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs

​In a repeat of last years district final Gillian and Scott Mackintosh edged home by a shot against Maitlands Alison MacDougall and Alan Trotter.  Scott found himself 11-5 down after 11 ends.  A pair of 2s closed the gap to 11-9 then held 2 shots before Scott gave the shot away with his last bowl.  The loss of a single at the next put Scott 13-9 down with 2 ends to play but picked up a 3 to make it 13-12 playing the last.  With a bowl each to play LRF lay 1 with a measure for 2nd but Scott drew the shot to make certain of the 2 shots required and Alan Trotter was too heavy with his last bowl.  Gillian and Scott will play at Ayr on Monday 24th July.

FRIDAY 9TH JUNE

Forth League V Goldenacre (Home)

The Ladies won 7-0 at home to Goldenacre.

​Bowls Scotland Singles

​Scott Mackintosh looked to heading for the final when 17-7 up against Darren McKenny (Pilrig) and lying 3 shots but Darren burnt the end and scored a single on the replay.  Darren pulled the mat up and continued to close the gap to 19-15 then turned Scott out for a 4 to make it peels at 19-19 then hit 21 with a double at the next end.

Bowls Scotland U25 Singles

Dean Mackintosh grabbed the bragging rights and a place in the final with a 21-12 win against his brother, Craig.  Dean started well to lead 8-1 before Craig closed the gap to 8-7 but Dean pulled away again to 16-9 before winning 21-12.

WEDNESDAY 7TH JUNE

1st XVI V Gorgie Mills (Home)

​The 1st XVI lost 5-4 at home to Gorgie Mills.  Graeme Todd Snr fought back from 8-3 down to lead 11-8 then at peels at 11 he picked up a 4 to lead 15-11.  Nicky Brown replied with 1, 3 to level at 15-15 playing the last but Graeme scored a 2 to win 17-15.  Scott Mackintosh scored 2, 3, 2 to move 10-6 in front then at 12-10 scored a couple of singles to lead 14-10 before winning 14-12 against Scott Purvis.  David Kyle trailed 6-0 then 12-4 but a brief rally closed the gap to 12-9 with 2 ends to play but Kevin Jamieson finished 2, 1 to win 15-9.  Graeme Todd Jnr was 8-5 down against Brian DIngle when he lost 1, 1, 1, 2, 5, 1 before losing 23-8.

1st XVI V Bainfield (Away)

The 1st XVI lost 9-0 away to Bainfield.  Graeme Todd Jnr got off to a slow start to trail 8-0 and this proved to be the difference as he lost 16-11 to Brian Stoddart.  Jim McCaskell, standing in for the hungover Dean Mackintosh, got off to a great start with a 6 at the first and led 9-1 after 3 but couldn't maintain this as he lost 24-16 to Steven Pilley.  David Kyle led 5-1 but was crossed 12-5 before losing 18-10 to Paul Millar.  Scott Mackintosh was 7-4 down when he lost a 5 then 2 ends later lost a 6 before losing 22-11 to Craig Paterson.

2nd XVI V Sighthill (Home)

The 2nd XVI lost 5-4 at home to Sighthill.  Bill Whyte got off to a great start to lead 11-2 then held on for a 13-8 win against Dave Bannan.  Alan Black led 8-0 then 9-8 before requiring a 2 at the last to win 13-11.25 against Dean Scanlin.  Alex Sime looked to be heading for victory at 14-8 up but lost 3, 2, 1, 2, 1, 4 to lose 21-14 to J. House.  John Witherspoon was 5-4 in front but lost 6, 1, 3, 3 to fall 17-5 behind eventually losing 19-11 to Ian Edgar.

3rd Team V Slateford (Home)

The 3rd team won 5-0 at home to Slateford.  ​John Watters fought back from 12-7 down to win 16-15 against M. Rae.  John Neal was peels at 6-6 then pulled away to 14-7 before winning 18-12 against S. Wardrop.

​Craig Mackintosh led Northern's James Barr 15-6 but faced game against at 18-18 before drawing the shot then followed up with another 2 singles to win 21-18.

​At Maitland Dean Mackintosh looked to be on his way out at 19-16 down but a 2 and 3 singles saw him win 21-19 against Josh Spalding from Craigentinny.

​Dean and Craig will now play each other in the semi final at Northern on Tuesday 6th June.

The Ladies won 3-2 away to Liberton. Gillian Mackintosh won 29-9 and Nicola Barclay lost 16-12.

​The 1st XVI lost 7-2 at home to Sighthill in a game which they could have won.  Scott Mackintosh recovered from 8-3 down to win 7 of the last 8 ends to win 15-9 against Scott Lyle.  David Kyle hit the front with a 3 to lead 15-14 after 13 ends then entered the last end only 1 down but lost a 3 to lose 20-16 to John McDermott.  Graeme Todd Jnr trailed 16-6 after 10 ends but won the next 6 ends to close to 14-16 playing the last.  Graeme lay 2 shots until Stuart Isbister drew the shot with his last bowl to win 17-14.  Dean Mackintosh scored 3 at the 2nd last to level at 15-15 meaning 1 shot would give him the win and also level the aggregate for 4.5 points and he looked on course to do just that until Gary Connelly moved the jack for 3 shots with the last bowl of the game and an 18-15 win.

3rd Team V Seafield (Away)

​The 3rd team won 3-2 away to Seafield.  John Neal finished 5, 4 for a convincing 23-9 win against Alex Allan.  Davy Veitch scored 4 singles to lead by a shot playing the last end but lost a 2 to lose 14-13 to L. Collie.

​The 1st XVI slumped to a 9-0 defeat away to surprise league leaders Merchiston.  David Kyle picked up a 5 to close to 12-16 but lost the next 3 ends to lose 19-14 against Ian Somerville.  Dean Mackintosh trailed 13-4 before a run of 4 singles closed the gap to 13-8 but Frank Gordon picked up a couple of singles in the last 2 ends to win 15-8.  Graeme Todd Jnr won the first end but then lost the next 8 to trail 14-1 then lost 19-9 against Colin Cochrane. Scott Mackintosh picked up a 6 to lead 9-7 but then proceeded to lose the next 8 ends as he lost 22-11 to Ian Burns.

​The Seniors lost 6-1 away to Merchiston.  Jim McCaskell recovered from 14-5 down to lead 15-14 playing the last but lost a single to peel 15-15 against Frank Gordon.  Graeme Todd Snr was 12-8 up with 2 to play but lost 1, 4 to lose 13-12 to Ian Somerville.  Denis Breslin lost 14 shots in 6 ends before losing 15-13 to Willie Brown.

WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY

1st XVI V Ardmillan (Away)

The 1st XVI made it 2 wins from 2 with a 5-4 win away to Ardmillan.  Graeme Todd Snr got off to a flyer to lead 20-0 after 8 ends before winning 24-9 against A. Lockhart.  Dean Mackintosh trailed 11-6 and 13-12 but finished 1, 6, 2 to win 21-13 against J. Bernard.  David Kyle trailed 15-4 but fought back to 15-10 before losing a 4 at the last end to lose 19-10 to M. Clark.  Scott Mackintosh was 10-2 down after 7 ends and never looked like winning as he slumped to a 21-8 defeat to Mike Nolan.

2nd XVI V Blackhall (Home)

​The 2nd XVI bounced back from their loss on Monday to win 7-2 against Blackhall.  Denis Breslin was 9-9 after 11 ends before winning the last 6 ends to win 17-9 against J. Torrance.  Harry Pincott was peels at 10-10 then picked up 3 singles to win 13-10 against George McDonald.  Bill Whyte was also peels at 10-10 and finished 2, 1 to defeat Cammy Pammontor 13-10.  Alan Black trailed 16-2 before closing to 18-14 but lost a single at the last end to lose 19-14 to Chris Marryat.

3rd Team V Gorgie Mills (Away)

​The 3rd team could only muster 6 players for their trip to Gorgie where they lost 5-0.  Archie McIntosh lost 14-9.75 to J. Baigrie and Bobby McLeod lost 17-9.

​Gillian Mackintosh has been selected for the Scottish Ladies team to play in Wales from 18th to 20th June.

2nd XVI V Mayfield (Away)

​The 2nd XVI lost a tight game 8-1 away to Mayfield.  Harry Pincott recovered from 12-5 down to peel 18-18 against S. Kearsley.  Bill Whyte led 12-7 but a 4 end burst left him 15-12 down and he could only manage 2 singles in the last 2 ends to lose 15-14 to B. McFarlane.  Denis Breslin lost a 3 at the last end to lose 17-15 against D. Wilson.  Alan Black slipped from 6-5 up to 14-6 down before losing 17-12 against W. Weir.

1st XVI V Dean (Home)

The 1st XVI won their first league with a 7-2 victory against Dean at home. Scott Mackintosh led the way with a 19-10 win against Kevin McNab with a strong 1, 1, 4, 1, 1, 1 from 10-10.  Dean Mackintosh had a 16-9 win against George McNab having accelerated from 2-2 to lead 10-3.  George closed to 11-9 before Dean finished 2, 3 for  16-9 victory.  Graeme Todd Jnr also had a strong finish from 10-11 down but won 5 of the last 6 ends to win 17-12 against Bob Linton.  David Kyle looked like making it 9-0 when he led 12-4 but the loss of 10 shots in 4 ends saw him enter the last end peels at 14-14 before losing a single to go down 15-14 against John Underwood.

3rd Team V Lutton Place (Home)

The 3rd team lost 5-0 away to Brunstane. Fred Milne lost 17-16 against P. McGauchran and Davy Veitch lost 23-11 to H. O'Hara.

Monday 1ST May

EBL Ladies V Willowbrae (Home)

The Ladies started their league campaign with a 5-0 win at home to Willowbrae.  Gillian Mackintosh scored a 3 at the last to win by a shot and Nicola Barclay won by 22 shots.

2016 Mens Rink Final

​Craig Mackintosh, Derek Robertson, Dean Mackintosh and Scott Mackintosh won the rink final when they defeated George Kyle, Gordon Brown, David Kyle and Daniel McCaskell by 7 shots.  This completed the full house of Scottish competitions for Scott Mackintosh as he also won the Championship, Pairs, Triples and Mixed Pairs in 2016.


Craig Mackintosh has been selected for the Bowls Scotland Under 25 Regional Academy.


Dean and Craig Mackintosh have been selected for the Edinburgh and Leith Under 25 team which will play Borders (Away) on 7th May, East Lothian @ Tanfield on 14th May, Fife @ Maitland on 21st May and Midlothian (Away) on 11th June.
