​Father and son Mark and Brian Yuill won the Todd Pairs defeating Alan Tough and Darren Bald.

SYBA International V North of England U25s

​Craig Mackintosh played in an SYBA U17 team who defeated a North of England U25 team 153-87.  Craig played lead in a rink that lost 25-23.

FRIDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER

​Mens 3 Bowl Handicap Final

​Craig Mackintosh (+5) defeated Daniel McCaskell (+4) 21-18 to win the 3 Bowl Handicap.  Craig started well to lead 11-6 but Daniel fought back to lead 12-11.  Craig regained the lead at 15-14 then lost a 3 but a couple of singles made it peels at 17-17.  Daniel moved in sight of the winning line with a single to 18 but Craig replied with a couple of 2s to win 21-18.

Craig Mackintosh becomes the youngest winner of the 3 Bowl Handicap at 16 years and 24 days beating his Dad, Scott who won it when he was 16 years and 9 months.

Monday 12th September

​Mixed Pairs Final

​Gillian and Scott Mackintosh had a comfortable 25-5 win against Nicola Barclay and Dean Mackintosh in Mixed Pairs final.

SUNDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER

Junior Champion of Champions

​Craig Mackintosh won his group at Slateford but lost 9-8 in the semi final against Greg Walker from Wardie.  Greg went on to win the final 21-7 against Aaron Betts from Craigentinny.

​Nominated Pairs Final

​Graeme Todd Jnr and Scott Mackintosh won 14-10 in the Nominated Pairs Final against Daniel and Jim McCaskell, winners for the last 2 years.

Tracey Kyle, George Kyle and David Kyle won the Belhaven Open Mixed Triples when they defeated Eileen Mitchell, Tam Chapman and Bill Whyte.

​EWBA Pairs

​Eileen Mitchell and Rosemary Mackintosh once again came from behind to win the EWBA Pairs against Colinton at Carrick Knowe.  LRF lost a 5 at the 3rd end to trail 8-2 but they dragged their way back into it before hitting the front with a 5 to lead 15-12 and they held on to win 20-14.  Eileen also won this trophy last year playing with Gillian Mackintosh.

Ladies Edinburgh Cup Final V Goldenacre

The Ladies gained revenge for last years cup final defeat with a thrilling extra end victory over Goldenacre.  Eileen Mitchell, Alvis Dickson, Pat Turner and Diane Bell led for most of the game until a disastrous spell that saw them lose two 5s and a 4 in 4 ends saw them lose 24-20.  Ann McCaskell, Sheila McIntosh, Rosemary Mackintosh and Nicola Barclay were behind in the early stages but pulled themselves up before winning 20-16.  The scores were tied at 40-40 which meant they had to play an extra end.  Nicola picked up a 3 and after much deliberation Diane opted not to play her last bowl which meant an umpires measure was required to determine whether Goldenacre scored 2 or 3.  The umpire indicated that Pats bowl was the 3rd shot which meant the Ladies completed a league and cup double.  Well done.

​Congratulations to the Ladies who won the league for the 2nd time in 3 years with a 5-0 win at home to Corstorphine.

​Ladies Edinburgh Cup V Craigentinny

​The Ladies had a comfortable win against Craigentinny at Queensberry in the semi final of the Edinburgh Cup.  They will play Goldenacre in a repeat of last years final at Tanfield on Saturday 20th August at 2pm.

EBL KO Triples

​Craig Mackintosh, Graeme Todd Snr and Graeme Todd Jnr defeated Blackhall at an extra end in the semi final of the triples at Queensberry.  They will play Whitehouse and Grange in the final at Tanfield on Saturday 3rd September at 2pm.

Wednesday 10th august

1st XVI Carrick Knowe (H)

​The 1st XVI finished their league campaign with a 9-0 defeat at home to runaway league winners Carrick Knowe.  The 1st XVI finished 5th in division 4.

2nd XVI V Carrick Knowe (A)

​The 2nd XVI ended a disappointing campaign with 7-2 defeat away to Carrick Knowe which saw them finish in 8th place and they will be relegated to division 3 for next season.

3rd Team V Tanfield (H)

​The 3rd team had a chance of promotion at the start of the night but by the end of the night a disastrous 5-0 defeat at home to Tanfield saw them finish in 7th place and relegated to division 3.

Monday 8th august

EBL Ladies V Tanfield (A)

​The Ladies won 3-2 away to Tanfield which means that they will win the league if they pick up 3 points in the final game next week against Corstorphine.

​Allan Mackintosh Pairs

​Diane and Ronnie Bell won the Allan Mackintosh Pairs for the first time with an 8-6 win against last years winners, Rosemary Mackintosh and Gordon Gray.  In a tight game peels were called at 2-2 and 4-4 before the Bells moved 7-4 ahead with 2 ends to play.  Gordon picked up a single at the 8th end then lay 3 shots for game before Ronnie drew the shot with the last bowl of the game.  The beaten semi finalists were Christine and Archie McIntosh, and Derek Robertson and Craig Mackintosh.

Friday 5th august

Ladies Championship Final

In a repeat of last years final Gillian Mackintosh came up against her auntie, Diane Bell but there was to be no repeat result for Diane this year.  This was the night where Gillian's auntie became her granny.  Gillian started well however Diane was able to limit Gillian to 1s and 2s in the early stages although she soon built up a 12-0 lead.  As the rain came down Gillian continued to put Diane under pressure as she picked up back to back 4s to move onto 20 and followed up with a single to complete an unexpected 21-0 scoreline and her 5th championship victory.

Craig Mackintosh, Graeme Todd Snr and Graeme Todd Jnr defeated Carrick Knowe at Goldenacre to move into the semi finals next Thursday against Blackhall at Queensberry.

wednesday 3rd august

1st XVI V Bainfield (A)

The 1st XVI lost 7-2 away to Bainfield to all but end their slim hopes for promotion.  Scott Mackintosh was the only rink up as he came back from 9-3 down to win 18-11 against Stuart Clark.  David Kyle took an early 3-1 lead however a horrendous run saw him lose 16 shots in 6 ends to trail 17-3.  David closed the gap in the 2nd half to lose 22-12 to Steven Pilley.  Graeme Todd Jnr was peels at 7-7 after 10 ends but lost a 4 and two 3s on the run in to lose 20-10 to Brian Stoddart.  Dean Mackintosh lost a 7 at the 9th end to trail 16-4 then his misery continued as he crashed to a 28-10 defeat to Craig Paterson.  This result leaves them 7 points behind 2nd placed Colinton with 1 game remaining.

2nd XVI V Brunstane (H)

​The 2nd XVI moved to the bottom of the table with a 7-2 loss at home to Brunstane.

3rd Team V Maitland A (A)

The 3rd Team won 3-2 away to Maitland A.  This means they enter the last game of the season in 3rd place with an outside chance of promotion, they trail 2nd placed Queensberry by 4.5 points, but also the threat of relegation as they are only 3 points above 7th placed Maitland A.

Monday 1st august

​Tait Trophy

​Scott Mackintosh lost 21-18 against Robert Marshall from Slateford at Beechwood.  Scott had fought back from 10-2 down to take the lead at 18-17 before losing a 2 and 2 singles.

​EWBA Top Ten

The Ladies won the Top Ten with a convincing 8-0 victory against Colinton at Merchiston.

Friday 29th july

Mens Championship Final

​Scott Mackintosh won his 16th Championship title with a convincing 21-2 victory against Graeme Todd Jnr.  Scott raced into a 9-0 lead before Graeme got on the card with a last bowl draw for a single.  Scott responded with a further 9 shots unanswered before Graeme scored again to make it 18-2.  Graeme lay 2 shots at the next but a fortunate rub saw Scott get the shot with his last bowl and he followed this up with another 2 singles to hit 21.  Scott will play Slateford in the Tait Trophy on Monday 1st August at Beechwood.

​Craig Mackintosh made his Scotland debut at the Old Bleach club in Antirm, Northern Ireland.  Scotland won the series 18-12.  Craig lost 14-6 in the pairs with Paul Innes then lost his singles 1.5-0.5 before winning his triples 18-9.

Wednesday 6th july

​1st XVI V Lutton Place (A)

The 1st XVI won 7-2 away to Lutton Place.  Scott Mackintosh raced into a 13-0 lead before beating L. Atkins 20-6.  Dean Mackintosh trailed 10-9 before winning 6 of the last 7 ends, including a 7, to win 25-12 against J. Rutherford.  Gordon Gray trailed 6-1 and 10-7 before winning 13-8.75.  Graeme Todd Jnr fought back from 16-7 to trail by 2 playing the last end before losing 19-5 against G. Dalton.

2nd XVI V Maitland (H)

The 2nd XVI won 9-0 at home to Maitland.

Top 5 V Queensberry (H)

​LRF won a tight match 4-1 and will play Sighthill in the next round.  Daniel recovered from 10-8 down to win 21-14 against Gavin Ramsay.  Gordon Gray raced into a 17-5 lead against Paul Kirkland but Paul fought back to 19-18 before Gordon picked up a 2 to win 21-18.  David Kyle had a great tussle with Mike Imrie before losing 21-19.  George Kyle led 10-3 then trailed 19-15 before clinching the match with a 21-20 win against John Kidd.  Scott Mackintosh let slip a 17-8 lead to trail 18-17 before winning 21-18 against Scott Walker.

Wednesday 29th june

1st XVI V Colinton (H)

​The 1st XVI claimed their first win in 5 games with a 5-4 win at home to Colinton.  A 3 end burst from 3-5 to 9-5 moved Scott Mackintosh ahead to set him up for a 15-11 win against David Fisher.  In a game where the lead changed hands 5 times Gordon Gray held on for a 16-15 win against Gary MacDonald.  A run of 1, 2, 1, 2, 2 put David Kyle 15-11 up with 2 ends to play however he lost a single at the 16th end then a ditched jack saw him lose 3 shots to finish peels at 15-15 against Ross Byers.  Daniel McCaskell led 5-4 but the loss of 18 shots over the next 9 ends before scoring a 3 at the last saw him lose 22-11 to Brian Davies. 

2nd XVI V Leith (A)

​The 2nd XVI remain in the 2nd relegation spot with a 6-3 loss away to Leith.  Harry Pincott trailed 13-6 against Graham Ward but won the last 7 ends to win 15-13.  Alan Black took a 19-13 lead before losing 3, 1, 4 and required a 2 at the last end to peel 21-21 against Davy Morris.  Davy Ford lost 21-10 against Alan Morrison.  John Witherspoon stood peels at 7-7 after 8 ends but had a disastrous 2nd half as he crashed to a 24-9 defeat against E. Thomson which included John playing a wrong bias at the 15th end.​

​3rd Team V Wardie (H)

The 3rd team moved up to 3rd place with a 5-0 win at home to Wardie.  Freddie Milne finished strongly with a run of 2, 1, 5, 2, 3 to win 23-12 against Gordon Waddell.  John Watters recovered from 7-3 down to lead 11-7 before winning 18-17 against Ross Neal.

Tuesday 28th june

Top Ten V Whitehouse & Grange (H)

​The men defeated Whitehouse & Grange in the Top Ten on shots after they finished level on points.  Scott Mackinotsh beat Mark Hewitt 21-17 in the singles.  In the pairs Daniel McCaskell and David Kyle lost a 2 at the last end to lose 16-15 to Ken Brown and Steve Kirk.  Craig Mackintosh, Ronnie Bell and Graeme Todd Snr won 15-10 against John Wright, James McLennan Jnr and Calum Weir.  In the fours Alan Winton, George Kyle, Jim McCaskell and Gordon Gray fought back from 16-4 down to lose 22-18 against Pete Thomson, John Cameron, Ross Maguire and Malcolm Weir.  They will play away to Ardmillan in the next round.

​The Ladies lost 5-0 away to Willowbrae but remain 5 points clear at the top of the table.

​McKenzie & Miller Invitation Pairs

​Stuart McKean and Scott Mackintosh won the Invitation Pairs for the second year running when they came from behind to beat Harry Pincott and Tommy Taylor 10-5.  Harry opened with a 2 and a 1 to lead 3-0 then lay a 3 at the next end before Scott turned a bowl onto the jack for a single.  Scott scored another single at the next but Harry replied with a 2 to lead 5-2 after 5 ends.  Scott picked up a couple of 2s then scored 4 at the 8th end to win with an end to spare.  The beaten semi finalists were Diane Bell and Robert white, and John Witherspoon and Connaire Wallace.

​West End was unplayable so the Mixed Fours has been rearranged for Sunday 3rd July @ 6pm at Ardmillan against Ardmillan.

Rita Reid from Goldenacre won the Margaret Hastings Invitation Singles for the 2nd year running when she defeated surprise package Irene Breslin in the final.

​The Ladies won 7-0 at home to Wardie.  Diane Bell won 19-6, Ann McCaskell won 19-8 and Rosemary Mackintosh won 17-9.

​Gillian Mackintosh defeated Hillside's Jean Lavin 21-13.

1st XVI V Merchiston (A)

The 1st XVI made it an unwanted 4 defeats in a row as they lost 8-1 away to Merchiston.  At 15-14 up playing the last end Scott Mackintosh looked to be heading for victory when he trailed the jack with his last bowl however Ian Burns turned a bowl in for shot to finish 15-15.  David Kyle was always 3 or 4 shots behind Ian Somerville and entered the last end 4 down before losing a 3 in an 18-11 defeat.  Gordon Gray trailed 8-6 after 10 ends but the loss of consecutive 3s ended his chance as he lost 18-10 to Frank Gordon.  Dean Mackintosh made an horrendous start losing two 4s and to 5s to trail 24-3 although things brightened up a bit at the 14th end as Dean picked up a fullhouse 8 before losing 28-15 to Colin Cochrane.

2nd XVI V Postal (H)

​The 2nd XVI picked up their first win of the season with a 5-4 win at home to Postal.  John Witherspoon made a great start to lead 14-0 then 25-3 before losing the last 4 ends in a 25-11 win against Bobby Moxey.  Davy Ford let slip a 13-7 lead to enter the last end peels at 15-15 but he finished with a mighty 5 to win 20-15 against John Flockhart.  Alan Black fought back from 14-3 down to lead 16-14 but then lost 3, 1,to lose 18-16 against George Taylor.  Harry Pincott scored a single at the first end then lost the next 11 ends to trail 13-1before losing 15-8 against Stan Mitchell.

3rd Team V Lutton Place (A)

The 3rd team won 5-0 away to Lutton Place to move into 4th place.

British Isles Internationals @ Sighthill

​Scotland finished the series as champions with a 4th win against Ireland 114-100.  Gillian Mackintosh won 23-16 to make it 4 wins from 4.

Scotland defeated Jersey 158-87 with Gillians rink winning 23-14.

EBL Lades V Corstorphine (A)

​The Ladies won 5-0 at Corstorphine to remain top of the league.  Nicola Barclay won 20-16 and Diane Bell won 15-12.

British Isles Internationals @ Sighthill

Scotland won both their games today with a 115-95 win against England in the morning then in the afternoon they defeated Wales 122-94.  Gillian Mackintosh won both her games 19-15 and 21-13.  Scotland play Jersey on Monday @ 2pm and finish off with a game against Ireland on Tuesday @ 9.30am.

Bowls Scotland Senior Singles

​Rosemary Mackintosh won the district final at Willowbrae with an outstanding performance to win 21-6 against Kate Beveridge from Wardie.  Rosemary went from 5-2 to 19-2 up with a run of 1, 1, 3, 3, 2, 4 then clinched her place at Ayr 3 ends later with a 2.

Bowls Scotland Senior Fours

Eileen Mitchell, Margaret Murray, Pat Turner and Ann McCaskell turned in a disappointing performance against Hillside where they conceded with 2 ends to play.

Bowls Scotland Triples

Vicky Mackay, Pat Turner and Nicola Barclay staged a great fightback from 10-3 down to win 14-13 against Craigentinny.

​Bowls Scotland Fours

Joan Graves, Margaret Forfar, Rosemary Mackintosh and Ann McCaskell snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Jessfield.  Having led for the whole game the LRF four entered the last end 3 shots in front and held the shot until the very last bowl where the Jessfield skip turned the bowl out for 4 shots.

​Wendy Rhind, Eileen Mitchell, Harry Batten and Jim McCaskell won 26-6 against Carrick Knowe at Ardmillan.

Craig Mackintosh lost 21-2 to Lewis Betts from Craigentinny in the semi final of the Willie Wood singles at Bainfield.  Craig defeated Stuart Moodie from Sighthill 21-8 then beat Greg Walker from Wardie in the quarter final.

​Rosemary Mackintosh booked her place in the district final with a 21-11 win against Ann Barclay from Willowbrae at Willowbrae.  She will play Wardie in the final at Willowbrae on Sunday 19th June @ 10am.

Bowls Scotland Senior Fours

Eileen Mitchell, Margaret Murray, Pat Turner and Ann McCaskell won their semi final with an end to spare.  They will also play the district final at Willowbrae on Sunday 19th June @ 10am.

Top 5 V Dudley (H)

​LRF defeated Dudley 3-1 in the first round of the Top 5.  Scott Mackintosh got them off to a great start with a 21-3 win against Mike Burns.  Next off was Grant Fraser who defeated Daniel McCaskell 21-6 to make it 1-1.  Dean Mackintosh finished 2, 4, 3 to beat Graham Flight 21-8 to put LRF 2-1 ahead.  George Kyle staged a tremendous fightback from 11-2 down to win 21-13 against David Dewar and clinch the match 3-1.  David Kyle had recovered from 13-7 down to lead 15-13 against Peter Whitton when they came off.  We will play Queensberry in the next round.

Wednesday 15th june

1st XVI V Carrick Knowe (A)

The 1st XVI made it 3 defeats in a row with a 9-0 loss away to league leaders Carrick Knowe.  Graeme Todd Jnr came closest to winning as at 13-7 down playing the 14th end he lay 3 shots but James Hogg fluked the shot with his last bowl.  Graeme scored a 2 at the next end but lost a 2 and a 4 to lose 20-9.  David Kyle raced into an 9-1 lead but he then lost 3, 5, 4, 2, (1), 4, 3 to trail 22-10 eventually losing 25-11 to Richard Tough.  Dean Mackintosh got off to the worst possible start losing a5 at the first end and after 9 ends he was 18-2 behind.  He restored some respectability by winning 7 of the last 8 ends in a 20-11 loss to Colin Mitchell.  Scott Mackintosh lead Paul O'Donnell 8-7 after 9 ends but only scored 1 more shot in a 26-9 loss.

2nd XVI V Carrick Knowe (H)

The 2nd XVI lost 6-3 at home to Carrick Knowe.  Alan Black took an 11-1 lead before winning 16-13 against A. McIntyre.  From 11-9 down John Witherspoon scored 4, 2, 1 to lead 16-11 but the loss of 4, 2 meant that a single at the last saw him peel 17-17 against Colin Spence.  Davy Ford trailed 8-6 after 10 ends but the loss of 2, 4, 2, 1 ended his hopes as he lost 18-10 against I. Combe.  Harry Batten lost 15 shots in 6 ends from 5-3 down as he lost 22-9 against Ray Smith.

3rd Team V Tanfield (A)

The 3rd team lost 4-1 by the narrowest of margins.  One game finished peels and the other rink lost by 1 shot.

monday 13th June

EWBA Top Ten
​The Ladies won on shots 77-57 against Parkside in the Top Ten.  In the singles Gillian Mackintosh was 14-1 down but managed to limit the damage with a 21-18 defeat. Diane Bell and Rosemary Mackintosh lost 15-12, Wendy Rhind, Sheila McIntosh and Ann McCaskell won 19-12 and Eileen Mitchell, Mary Hay, Margaret Murray and Pat Turner won 28-9.

EBL Ladies V Tanfield (H)

The Ladies won 4-1 at home to bottom of the league Tanfield to remain at the top of the league.  Gillian Mackintosh won 15-11 against Nicole McKean and Nicola Barclay peeled 13-13 with Chloe Thomson.

Bowls Scotland Singles

Gillian Mackintosh won 21-9 against Craigentinny's Jackie McFarlane at Wardie.  From 3-2 up Gillian scored 4, 1, 4 to take a 12-2 lead however Jackie pulled it back to 14-9 before Gillian booked her place in the final with a 3, 1, 2, 1 finish.

Bowls Scotland Triples

Vicky Mackay, Pat Turner and Nicola Barclay defeated Hillside at an extra end.  They will play Craigentinny in the final at Willowbrae on Sunday 19th June @ 2pm.

Bowls Scotland Fours

Joan Graves, Margaret Forfar, Rosemary Mackintosh and Ann McCaskell had a comfortable win in the semi final at Wardie.  They play in the final at Willowbrae on Sunday 19th June @ 2pm.

Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs

Gillian and Scott Mackintosh scored a single at the last end to win the District final 12-11 against Maitlands Alison McDougall and Alan Trotter.  They will play at Ayr in the national finals on Tuesday 26th July.

Saturday 11th june

Bowls Scotland Singles

​Gillian Mackintosh only took 12 ends to defeat fellow internationalist Alison McDougall 21-8 at LRF.  Gillian lost a 3 but replied with 2, 3, 4 before losing another 3 to lead 9-6.  They then traded 2s to 11-8 but Gillian wrapped up the match with a 2, 1, 4, 2, 1 finish.  Gillian plays Jackie McFarlane from Craigentinny in the semi final at Wardie on Sunday 12th June @ 10am.

​The Ladies won 4-3 at home to Willowbrae.  Ann McCaskell won 15-14, Rosemary Mackintosh won 12-11 but Diane Bell lost again 15-8.

Wendy Rhind, Ann McCaskell and Pat Turner won 16-9 against Brunstane.

Wednesday 8th june

1st XVI V Bainfield (H)

​The 1st XVI lost 6-3 at home to Bainfield.  Scott Mackintosh got off to a flyer as he picked up three 4s in the first 3 ends and added a 5 at the 7th end on his way to a thumping 30-4 win against Brian Stoddart.  Graeme Todd Jnr recovered from the loss of 2 singles with a run of 5, 1, 3, 2, 1 to take a 12-2 lead against Steven Pilley.  Steven won 8 of the next 9 ends, the other being a no shot, to lead 14-12 playing the last.  Graeme lay 2 shots with 1 bowl each remaining but Steven got a favourable result when playing into the head to ditch the jack and score 2 shots to hand Graeme a 16-12 defeat.  Dean Mackintosh led 6-2 and 7-5 but the loss of 3, 3, 2, 2 put him 15-7 down before losing 20-11 to Craig Paterson.  David Kyle was 7-5 down when losing 2, 1, 3, 4, 1 to trail 18-5 before losing 21-10 against Stuart Clark.

The 2nd XVI lost 7-2 away to Brunstane.

​3rd Team V Maitland A (H)

The 3rd team picked up a 4-1 win at home to Maitland.  John Watters took a 6-1 lead then led 15-9 before losing the last 2 ends to win 15-12 against Lee Ford.  In a game where the lad changed hands 6 times Archie McIntosh finished with 2 singles to seal a 16-16 peel against Ian Watson.

Tuesday 7th june

​Gillian Mackintosh won 21-7 against Margaret Keenan from Goldenacre.

​The Ladies won 3-2 against Bainfield with Gillian Mackintosh winning by 12 and Nicola Barclay losing by 4.  They will play Hillside in the next round.

SYBA Edinburgh East Qualifiers
Craig Mackintosh won 3 out of 4 games in the singles to qualify for Ayr for the fifth year in a row.  Craig lost 14-12 to Trystan Whyte from Portobello in his first game.  He then defeated Cameron Thomson from Wardie 15-6 before scoring 3 at the last end to defeat Trystan Whyte 13-9.  In his final game Craig won 15-12 against Cameron Thomson.  Craig will play in the singles at Ayr on Monday 25th July.

​The Ladies lost 4-3 away to Goldenacre.  Ann McCaskell won 15-5 but Diane Bell lost 11-12 and Rosemary Mackintosh lost 8-16.

Wednesday 1st june

1st XVI V Dean (A)

The 1st XVI suffered a disastrous 9-0 defeat away to Dean.  Graeme Todd Jnr took a 6-0 lead then lost 5 singles and a 3 to go 8-6 down.  A 4 and a 3 moved Graeme 13-8 in front but the loss of 4, (1), 4, 2 made it 18-14 to George McNab with 2 ends to play.  Graeme picked up a 1 and a 2 as he lost 18-17.  David Kyle trailed 7-1 then 13-5 but a run of 2, 1, 2, 2 pulled it back to 13-12 against Bob Linton with 2 ends to play.  David lost a 3 then picked up a 2 in a 16-14 loss.  Scott Mackintosh fought back from 11-2 down to 11-8 but then lost 1, 3, 3, 1, 1 before scoring a 2 at the last in a 17-11 defeat to Kevin McNab.  Dean Mackintosh was 10-4 down and lying 2 until Bob Cranston came off a bowl and turned the 2 shots out the head for a 5 to go 15-4 in front.  Dean went on to lose 19-8.

​2nd XVI V Summerside (H)

​The 2nd XVI lost 5-4 at home to Summerside.  John Witherspoon recovered from 10-6 down to win 6 of the last 7 ends in a 13-11 win against Allan Laird.  A 4 end burst from 5-5 moved Alan Black 13-5 ahead and despite losing a 4 at the last end he held on for a 14-13 win against I. Brown.  Davy Allan picked up from 11-5 down to take a 17-11 lead however he collapsed on the run in losing 1, 3, 2, 3 to lose 20-17 to George Beadie Snr.  A 4 and a 2 for Davy Ford made it peels at 13-13 but he won only 1 more end as he lost 20-14 to Gordon Walker.

​3rd Team V Maitland B (A)

The 3rd team won 3-2 away to Maitland B.

​Jim McCaskell lost 21-20 in the quarter final against Summerside's Gordon Walker at Craigentinnny.

EWBA Top Ten

​The Ladies had a comfortable 8-0 win against Craigentinny.  In the singles Gillian Mackintosh won 21-8, Diane Bell and Rosemary Mackintosh won 21-14, Wendy Rhind, Sheila McIntosh and Ann McCaskell won 14-7 and Eileen Mitchell, Mary Hay, Margaret Murray and Pat Turner won 21-10.

​The Ladies dropped their first points of the season in a 3-2 win away to Liberton.  Nicola Barclay won 20-14 and Gillian Mackintosh lost 16-12.

​The Ladies notched up another 7-0 win, this time at home to Craigentinny.  Ann MCaskell picked up a 4 at the last end to win 13-11, Rosemary Mackintosh won 22-5 and Diane Bell won 19-8.

​The Seniors won 5-2 away to Liberton with wins for Freddie Milne (18-9) and Bobby McLeod (18-10).  Jim McCaskells rink lost 21-13.

​Gordon Jamieson, Gordon Gray and Graeme Todd Snr lost 10-8 against Slateford at West End.

Wednesday 25th May

​1st XVI V Jessfield (H)

The 1st XVI maintained their perfect home record with a 9-0 win against Jessfield.  Seven points were in the bag by the 13th end but David Kyle had to battle all the way to the last end to win his game.  David trailed 9-6 after 10 ends but a run of 3, 1, 1, (1), 1, 1 moved him 13-10 in front playing the last end.  David lost a 2 but won the game 13-12 against Robert Pelosi.  Graeme Todd Jnr lost a 3 at the first end but stormed into a 20-3 lead with counts of 3, 4, 5 and 6.  He added another 5 later on as he coasted to a 32-10 win against John Marshall Jnr.  Scott Mackintosh also got off to a great start as he opened up a 20-2 lead eventually winning 25-7 against Jimmy Charleston.  Dean Mackintosh enjoyed a fair bit of good fortune with about 5 or 6 lucky rubs as he won 21-8 against John Marshall Snr.

2nd XVI V Wardie (A)

The 2nd XVI didn't fare so well as they lost 9-0 away to Wardie.  Davy Allan was slow out the blocks as he trailed 14-1 after 8 ends.  He picked up in the 2nd half but lost 19-13 to M. McKinlay.  John Witherspoon trailed 7-5 but then lost 5 ends on the trot followed by a 6 in a 22-12 loss to Sam Whitton.  Harry Pincott had a bit of a nightmare as he only won 5 ends in a 19-7 defeat to D. Wood.  Alan Black also struggled only scoring 6 singles in a 23-6 loss to Jimmy Glasgow.

3rd Team V Goldenacre (H)

​The 3rd team lost 3-2 at home to Goldenacre.  John Neal recovered from 10-3 down to take a 14-10 lead before winning 15-13 against Stuart Brown.  From 7-6 up Archie McIntosh lost 5 ends in a row then lost 15-13 against J. Bremner.

tuesday 24th may

​Bowls Scotland Junior Singles

​Craig Mackintosh lost 21-20 against Liam McKay from Tanfield at Brunstane.  Craig trailed 14-7 but fought back to take a 17-15 lead.  Craig lay shot at the next end but a good take out by Liam saw him level the game at 17-17.  Craig lay 3 at the next end with a bowl each to come however a fortunate strike from Liam saw him follow through off a bowl and ditch the jack for a single.  At the next end Craig pushed the jack into the ditch for a single to make it 18-18 then lay 3 for game at the next but Liam took 1 bowl out to make it 20-18 for Craig.  Liam saved game again at the next end to pick up a 1 then scored 2 at the next for a 21-20 win.

The Ladies continued their perfect start to the league with a 3rd 5-0 win at home to Hillside.  Nicola Barclay recovered from 10-3 down to win 19-16 and Gillian Mackintosh saved game with her last bowl to win 16-15.

​Gillian and Scott Mackintosh won 16-12 against Jean Clements and Colin Bell from Hillside at a wet Willowbrae.  From 6-6 a 4 end burst moved Scott 16-6 ahead with 3 ends to play however the loss of a 3 and a 2 left them only 5 ahead playing the last end.  Colin had a shot with his last bowl to turn a bowl out for a 7 however he just failed and only scored a single.  Gillian and Scott play next Sunday at Seafield @ 6.45pm.

Rosemary Mackintosh looked down and out at 15-8 down but a couple of 4s helped her take a 20-15 lead against Jean Lavin.  Jean responded with a 3 and a single to close to 20-19 and lay game at the next end before Rosemary promoted her own bowl with the last bowl for a single and a 21-20 victory.

​1st XVI V Lutton Place (H)

A second successive 9-0 win at home to Lutton Place saw the 1st XVI move to the top of the league.  Top scorer was Dean Mackintosh who powered into a 22-3 lead before winning 25-5 against John Rutherford.  A six at the 2nd end helped Graeme Todd Jnr build up a 10-1 lead however 4 ends later he was peels at 10-10.  Graeme replied with 3, 4, 1 then answered the loss of 3 singles with a thundering 7, 6 finish in a 31-13 win against John Carlin.  David Kyle was also quick out the blocks to lead 10-0 then 21-5.  He lost the next 4 ends but finished with a 3 as he defeated Brian Low 24-12.  Scott Mackintosh took a 10-1 lead then made space with a 5 to 16-8 before winning 23-12 against Gordon Plenderleith.

2nd XVI V Maitland (A)

​The 2nd XVI are still in search of their first win following a 6-3 defeat away to Maitland.  Alex Sime recovered from the loss of a 6 to by winning 9 of the next 10 ends in a 20-11 win against Harry McLaughlin.  Alan Black had to settle for a 14-14 peel in a tight tussle with G. Smith.  Davy Allan led 9-4 but the loss of 2, 1, 2, 1, 4, 3 saw him trail 17-9 before losing 20-16 to Jim McFarlane.  John Witherspoon had a night to forget as he crashed to a 28-7 defeat against Ernie Bain.

3rd Team V Queensberry (A)

​The 3rd team lost 5-0 away to Queensberry in a tight game with only 5 shots in the aggregate.

​Craig Mackintosh defeated Peter Ellis from Jessfield 21-7 at Hillside.  Craig plays Liam McKay from Tanfield at Brunstane next Tuesday in a repeat of last years district final.

EWBA Top Ten

​The Ladies won on shots (68-52) against Sighthill after finishing tied 4-4 on points.  Gillian Mackintosh won 21-14 in the singles and Wendy Rhind, Sheila McIntosh and Ann McCaskell won 21-8 in the triples.  Diane Bell and Rosemary Mackintosh lost 14-13 in the pairs and Eileen Mitchell, Mary Hay, Margaret Murray and Pat Turner lost 16-13.

The Ladies won 5-0 at home to Goldenacre.  Gillian Mackintosh won 17-9 and Nicola Barclay won 14-9.

Wednesday 11th May

1st XVI V Colinton (Away)

The 1st XVI lost 5-4 away to Colinton.  David Kyle won the first 6 ends to lead 8-0 then answered the loss of a 1 with 3 singles to 11-1.  Davids lead peaked at 14-4 before Stewart Douglas won the last 3 ends to close to 14-8.  Dean Mackintosh lost a 6 at the 5th end to fall 10-1 behind but a run of 3, (1), 1, 2, 4, 1 saw him take a 12-11 lead.  Dean lost a 3 at the next end but replied with 1, 4 to move 17-14 ahead however Gary MacDonald responded with 1, 2 to make it peels playing the last.  A measure saw Dean pick up a single and an 18-17 win.  Graeme Todd Jnr trailed 9-2 but a count of 5 moved him to 7-9 before slipping 7-14 behind.  Graeme again closed to 11-14 before losing a 6 then traded singles in a 21-12 defeat to B. Davis.  Scott Mackintosh picked up a 3 at the 11th to close to 9-12 but only managed 1 more shot as he lost 21-10 to David Fisher.

2nd XVI V Leith (Home)

The 2nd XVI lost by 3 shots in a 5-4 defeat at home to Leith.  A 6 at the 2nd end set Alex Sime on his way to a comfortable victory as he restricted his opponents to 8 singles.  He sealed his 24-8 victory against Danny Woods with a 5 at the last end.  In a tight game Alan Black made his move from 10-10 with counts of 2, 1, 3 then held on for a 16-14 win against Jimmy Malcolm.  Davy Allan stood peels at 8-8 after 11 ends but collapsed on the run in as he lost 18-9 to Willie Gilbertson.  Denis Breslin lost three 3s in the first 3 ends and it was the 9th end before he got on the card with a 4 to make it 15-4.  Thinks didn't improve and he lost 21-9 to Graham Ward.

The 3rd team lost 5-0 (45-18) away to Wardie.

Wednesday 4th May

1st XVI V Merchiston (Home)

The 1st XVI made the best possible start with a 9-0 victory against Merchiston at home. Scott Mackintosh led the way with a 24-9 win against Frank Gordon which included two counts of 5.  Graeme Todd Jnr picked up a 6 at the 4th end to lead 11-1 and coasted to a 21-9 win against Colin Cochrane.  David Kyle raced into a 13-0 lead having scored 7 shots at the 3rd end before beating Ian Burns 19-8.  Dean Mackintosh opened with 1, 4, 1 before losing8 of the next 10 ends to trail 14-12.  A run of 3, 2, 2 moved him 19-14 ahead before losing a 2 at the last in a 19-16 win against Ian Somerville.

2nd XVI V Postal (Away)

The 2nd XVI lost 7-2 away to Postal.  Alan Black built up a 14 -2 lead but only scored on 1 more end as he won 16-12 against B. Fallen.  Denis Breslin trailed 12-2 after 10 ends but a strong finish saw him close the gap  to 2 shots in a 15-13 loss to Stevie.  Alex Sime looked in control at 12-7 up before losing 5 ends in a row as he lost 16-14 to Martin McVey.  Davy Allan also made a slow start as he trailed 16-4 after 9 ends before losing 19-14 to Stan Mitchell.

3rd Team V Lutton Place (Home)

The 3rd team defeated Lutton Place 5-0 at home.  John Neal had a comfortable 23-10 win against W. Strang.  Fred Milne lost 2, 3 to trail 9-8 after 12 ends but proceeded to win the last 5 ends in a 15-9 victory against E. Hobson.

Monday 2nd May

EBL Ladies V Willowbrae (Home)

The Ladies started their league campaign with a 5-0 win at home to Willowbrae.  Gillian Mackintosh won 26-8 and Nicola Barclay won 21-7.

Craig Mackintosh was due to play Maitland in the Bowls Scotland U25 Singles next Tuesday but has received a bye into the next round and will now play on Tuesday 17th May.

Saturday 30th April

Craig Mackintosh has been selected for the Bowls Scotland Under 25 Regional Academy which aims to develop young talent  who have the long term goal of representing Scotland on the world stage.  Further information can be found at these links. Link 1 and Link 2.
